Kenya Maasai Expedition
With a party of 15 other brave and intrepid Real Gap travellers, venture out on Camel back through the stunning regions of Laikipia and Samburuland areas that have been called “the last stronghold of romantic East Africa: vast open ranches, shadowed by snow-capped Mount Kenya”. It sits on the equator at the centre of the Rift Valley Province in Kenya.
Working alongside our team of locals you will help to rebuild a nearby Maasai school. You will also help to refurbish the base of the Nomadic Communities Trust Mobile Camel Clinic. After your much valued contribution to these building projects on the banks of a local river in Samburuland, enjoy seeing flamingos and other wildlife on Lake Nakuru and watch the start of the Great Migration based in the renowned Maasai Mara.
Project LocationThe project is located in the Samburuland and Laikipia regions just north west of Mount Kenya. You will also visit Naivasha and Nakuru based very close to the Great African Rift Valley.
Accommodation and Meals
During the period of the expedition, all accommodation is included. Its style will vary: you will find yourself in cosy rustic small lodge type rooms called bandas some nights and on other occasions in very individual camp tents perfect for the local bush! Three meals are provided every day. You will occasionally be expected to help prepare food and will be put into groups to help do this.
