India Volunteer Rajasthan Programme 8 Week
It is a demanding project and should only be considered by volunteers who are looking for a rewarding but challenging role.
Help Teachers Help teach English and Maths to Indian children and give much needed support and time to the local teachers who are dealing with extremely large class sizes.
Child-care Work in an Aanganbari (child care center) to provide day-to-day care and support to pregnant women and young children. Volunteers ensure that some individual care and maximum attendance by the children of the area is achieved.
Spare time There will be plenty of free time for you to explore the area and join the excursions to Jalsalmer and the Taj Mahal and to take part in both a camel and tiger safari.
Project Location You will be met in Delhi on arrival and transferred for an overnight stopover in a hotel before taking a train to Jaipur for a three day stay with a local Indian family and orientation. The rest of the project is based in Shiv, a small town in the Rajasthan desert.
Accommodation & MealsAccommodation is comfortable and clean but basic in a mud hut with adjoining en suite bathroom!
All meals are included and are served ‘buffet style’ in the restaurant.
Volunteers may use the internet and telephone and access the DVD and TV facilities. For the more active volunteers, there are plenty of outdoor games and volleyball net.
