India Sports Adventure Programme
The India Sports and Adventure Program endeavors to develop sport in India by providing much-needed volunteer sports teachers. It also aims to develop the sports facilities of the impoverished schools of the Himalaya and Rajasthan regions. The location of your placement will be determined by the time of year and the weather (see program dates for details).
The Adventure sports and travel programs also incorporate exciting sports activities for volunteers including wildlife safaris, trekking and white water rafting.
By the end of the program, volunteers will have experienced a taste of the culture and some of the tourist highlights of India and, perhaps more importantly, helped to develop sport in this poverty-stricken country.
India Sports Volunteer ProgrammeDespite the popularity of sport in India – its sporting facilities and organizations are ill-equipped owing to poor government funding. Furthermore, schools give sports teaching low priority leaving many children without any form of exercise and no conceptual understanding of the importance of teamwork.
Real Gap volunteers come to India to initiate sports activities for school pupils and to create sports facilities. Volunteers receive backing and equipment (where necessary) from the relevant school teachers.
Sports lessons are usually carried out during the day and volunteer initiated sports clubs are run in the evenings.
The aim of the sports activities is to introduce a variety of sports to the pupils and to teach them exercises and skills to stimulate coordination and encourage teamwork. Volleyball, soccer and cricket are all very popular although volunteers are always welcome to introduce other games.
Accommodation and MealsAccommodation varies according to the project itinerary but is included in the program.
All meals are included and are made from local produce into traditional dishes. If you have special dietary needs, do let us know.

Programme Summary:
This program offers volunteers the opportunity to help introduce and establish sport in schools in India while experiencing the culture and customs of the country at close quarters. Volunteers will take part in adventure activities and may add a trip to the Taj Mahal.
