Based in a Ghanaian community, this volunteer project will give you an incredible cultural insight in the wonderful country of Ghana and its very special people – you will be living and working in rural villages with the communities that you will be helping.
The very rural areas of Ghana are often referred to as the “True Africa” and through this program you’ll be able to choose from such wide ranging projects as HIV/AIDS awareness and education, to medical and health care, teaching projects, women’s programs, non-governmental and orphanage organisations in Ghana.
To prepare for your stay at the beginning of your Ghana Volunteer placement, you’ll be given a full orientation session on arrival. You will be introduced to the experience of Ghanaian life by living alongside local families and helping to develop and support their precious communities.
Project LocationRural towns and villages, near to larger towns and cities.
Accommodation & MealsDuring the program, you’ll be able to have the fantastic experience of living with a local family near to the place where you’ll be working.
By living with a Ghanaian family who speak English, you will have the chance to integrate fully and immerse yourself in local culture. Usually this includes the children of the family and extended family. They will help to make you feel at home and get to know the local area. Typically you will eat with your host family, though you will have to buy lunch during voluntary work sessions.
